Labiaplasty refers to a procedure where the size of the labia minor is enhanced, reduced or reshaped. The procedure can become necessary due to a variety of reasons, including pain or discomfort, aging, genetics, aesthetics, or as a result of damage caused to the labia during birth.

Enlarged vaginal lips can lead to discomfort during intercourse or even in normal everyday situations. During the labiaplasty, procedure, the inner and outer lips of the vagina are trimmed, and reduced in size.

Vaginal rejuvenation, or vaginoplasty, involves tightening the vagina and is an option for women who may have torn or stretched their vagina during childbirth. The procedure does not increase sexual experience.

As with any surgery, there are risks involved with labiaplasty and vaginoplasty, and talking with an experienced plastic surgeon is the first step.

San Francisco plastic surgeon Dr. Shahin Javaheri can help educate you about the procedure and listen to your concerns to help you make the best decision for you.
