The Body Lift Procedure
Many individuals who have lost a large amount of weight due to gastric bypass, weight reduction surgery, or on their own through diet and exercise may experience loose, sagging, or excess skin around their arms, abdomen, thighs, hips and buttocks areas. A body lift procedure can help improve ones appearance and self confidence.*
Body contouring following major weight loss improves the shape and tone of your underlying tissue that supports fat and skin and drastically reduces excess sagging fat and skin. It may include body, breast, arm, and/or thigh lifts. A belt lipectomy, also known as the lower body lift, offers the most dramatic transformation of the mid and lower body. It re-sculpts the abdomen, hips, and buttocks. The result is a dramatic transformation which brings about a change that patients are truly happy about.*
Body lift procedure is most commonly performed on post bariatric patients but not exclusively. This procedure transforms patients, who have experienced massive weight loss and have excessive skin.*
Before and After
*Individual results will vary in each patient.
About the Procedure
Externally, it is essentially an extension of the abdominoplasty incision, except that it goes all around the body. This affords the lifting of the areas of the body which have “drooped” from years and/or excess weight. An abdominoplasty is performed at the same time as the lifting of the buttocks, and the hips.
What to Expect After Your Surgery
Patients generally stay at least one night at a hospital. Drains will be used to extract excess fluid, which will stay anywhere from one to two weeks.*
The recovery is a bit longer than an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) but the reduction of the hanging skin and tissue which cause embarrassment and skin ulcerations, and odor is a big upside.*
Dr. Javaheri is an accomplished expert in the area of post-massive weight loss surgery. He has performed many procedures with great success, and considers this part of his practice extremely fulfilling and gratifying.
*Results for each patient will vary. Please remember that the information provided will not guarantee your eligibility for a body lift. Consultation and medical examination must be completed before approval.
